View Tallinn on the map

Standing by the coast of the Gulf of Finland in northern Europe is Tallinn, the enchanting capital of Estonia. A unique mix of the old and modern, Tallinn is filled with excitement and one cannot run out of things to do in this city. Featuring a lot of historical buildings to explore and beautiful parks and sights to see, Tallinn is frequented by tourists because of its inherent loveliness and culture.

One of Tallinn's top attractions is the Old City which was built in the 15th-17th centuries. Inside the Old City, you will find the Toompea where a great Danish castle can be found. Also located in the Old City is the Viru Gate, a street for all shopaholics because it is one of Tallinn's trendiest shopping streets. If you're in the mood for some refreshment or unwinding, you can choose to dine in one of the cafes and restaurants in Raejoka plats, a square in the area.

Outside the Old City, more wonderful sights and structures to discover can be found. If you like history, you will marvel at what you can learn from the Open Air Museum, the National Art Museum, and the Museum of Occupations. If you're into animals and wildlife, you can't miss the Tallinn Zoo which features live exhibits of elephants, crocodiles, goats, as well as gorgeous ponds flocked by birds during summers. If you'd like a bird's eye view of the city, the Tallinn TV Tower is the must-visit edifice. Standing 314 meters high, the tower has an observation deck on its 21st floor which offers a breathtaking view of all of Tallinn and even of Finland on a crystal clear day.

If you're a nightlife person, you'll definitely enjoy this city with its nightlife that goes on until the morning. Choose from a wide array of lounges, nightclubs, and bars as well as a great line up of theater acts, choral concerts, and pop, rock and jazz performances. Tallinn also holds some special music events like the Song Festival held every four years and which features thousands of singers and dancers entertaining an enormous number of audiences.
