Dusseldorf is the capital city of the German state of north Rhine Westphalia. The city is located in the Rhein-Ruhr area. It is the economic center of Germany and the most populated metropolitan area of the country. Apart from being a picturesque city replete with history, the city is also renowned for holding a number of events like carnivals, fashion shows and trade fairs. It is the central building of the three-wing Maison de Plaisance, which was erected for the Palatine Elector Carl Theodor by his building director Nicolas de Pigage. The construction of this site was completed in 1770. The Benrath Palace and Park happens to be a complete work of art uniting awesome architecture and the beauties of nature in an overlapping concept. The monument is rated as one of the most beautiful palaces of the Rococo epoch. Beside the palace, lies the enormous park stretching around 62000 square meters.
The Königsallee shopping district of Dusseldorf is the internationally recognized hub for its surplus of high standard fashion stores. The city is also flanked by a large number of museums and other destinations attracting tourists from all over the world.
As Dusseldorf is close to the German/Belgian/Dutch border, taking weekend trips to neighboring countries are common among its inhabitants and visiting tourists. Dusseldorf is very well connected to other cities of Europe and is reached by visitors from all over the world.
