The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, is an urban metropolitan area situated on the Islands of Zealand and Amager. Things to see in Copenhagen

Royal palaces of Copenhagen: Amalienborg Palace is the city's royal residence. Among the many things the palace houses - the octagonal courtyard and the royal museum is worthy mentioning. Another attraction is the Rosenborg Palace, which is a small but a neat piece of renaissance surrounded by the King's Garden. Chrsitiansborg, which houses the parliament, is also a royal palace. You can visit the Royal reception rooms, stables and old court theatre or even watch a play in the Royal Theatre.


The art scene: If you are an art lover then Copenhagen is the right place for you to enjoy it. The Danish National Gallery is the place where you can have a visual treat as it features works of Rembrandt, Picasso and Matisse. You will find a number of paintings from the 'Golden Age' of the Danish masters. A trip to the north of Copenhagen to the beautiful Ordrupgaard will give you the opportunity to enjoy classic art exhibitions of Monet, Renoir, Degas and Gauguin. To the south of the city is located the Arken Museum of Modern Art, which mainly houses Scandinavian contemporary modern art along with hosting many art exhibitions.


Science and Natural history: For the kids to make the most of their trip, visit the Experimentarium North of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Zoo. The zoo is the oldest and the best in Europe. Other than this, the Zoology museum can be a pleasant visit, the Geological museum and the Botanical museum run by University of Copenhagen is worth a visit too
